For roughly forty years, Moore’s Law scaling of semiconductor devices has been the fundamental engine of growth for the worldwide electronics industry. However, as we scale toward atomic limits, life gets “complicated”—especially if you are a circuit designer. Circuits are the critical layer between the increasingly unpleasant physics of nano-scale transistors, and the simplifying abstractions (logic gate, amplifier, etc.) necessary for system building.
How will we design successful circuits from these increasingly ill-behaved nano-scale silicon devices? What might circuits look like as promising post-silicon technologies start to come on line? This is C2S2’s mission: figuring out how to convert tomorrow’s transistors into useful performance, no matter how strange they might be.
In addition to this website, our parent sponsor site (FCRP), our C2S2 annual research reviews, and our topical technical workshops provide a wealth of information about the exciting circuit and system challenges that our world-class circuits team is working to solve. Participation in meetings and access to the protected portions of these websites are limited to persons at FCRP member organizations.
