C2S2 is built upon a solid foundation that was established by the previous C2S2 Focus Centers, but with a very different organization of Research Themes:
Circuits/Modules Infrastructure: Novel methodology, tools, custom design flows.
Enterprise Systems: The highest performing, largest designs (1010 devices), at the most scaled nodes (~10nm), operating in the most difficult power envelopes.
Wireless Electronics: Mobile, wearable, soldier-in-field, ultra-low power designs.
Functional Diversity: More-than-Moore designs (e.g. biomedical electronics, sub-mmwave defense-oriented imaging).
Emerging Circuits: Circuits in post-silicon and augmented-silicon technologies.
This research structure expands our expertise into emerging domains (e.g., biomedical electronics) and defense-specific capabilities (e.g., sub-mmwave imaging, signals intelligence), while retaining our core strengths: creative circuit design, deep understanding of the synergies between devices and circuits, and custom circuit and tool flows. Our team is composed of 40 faculty members from 13 top U.S. universities. Our center is actively collaborating with the other five centers in the FCRP program.
